In 1995 KidSport Alberta was launched at the AGT March of Champions Relay en route to the Canada Games in Grande Prairie. Since the launch of the program, local chapters across the province have distributed more than $6 million to over 36,500 children and youth. This is a remarkable achievement for our board of directors, volunteers and community partners. With the support of over 260 volunteers, the KidSport program in Alberta now supports 34 local chapters.
The KidSport program has the ability to have a positive impact on sport participation and physical activity among the Canadian population, including many recent imigrant and visible minority families. Our volunteers and staff continue to work on program development and new opportunities with the intent to bring the KidSport program closer to the schools, rinks, gyms and playing fields so ALL Kids Can Play!
